On any given night in Australia, 116,427 people are homeless. Of these, 27,680 are young people aged between 12 and 24 years.
This is the Winter Warmer Appeal starts Monday 17th June until Sunday 30th June 2019.
At Swan City Youth Service we see nearly 1,000 young people every year and homelessness is a common factor. Homelessness can be sometimes be seen on the streets but, more often, it’s invisible and can affect those people that you least expect.
With the coldest months now upon us, consider this. What would you do if you were homeless? Who would you turn to? What would you eat and when or how often? Where would you go for support? How would you stay warm?
This winter, we’re asking for your help to open the door for a young person to access warm clothing, nourishing meals and vital support services. We’re in the business of helping young people lift themselves out of the homelessness cycle and your ‘Winter Warmer’ donation will help us in this journey.
Here’s how your donation will help:
• $10 will buy a nutritious and warming meal for a young person
• $20 will help a young person with some winter essentials such as socks and a beanie
• $50 will give a young person a sleeping bag
• $100 will provide a ‘sleeping rough’ kit including warm clothing and basic bedding
